Meet Rebecca!

Hi there my name is Rebecca,

My name is Rebecca Robinson and this is my success story. My story began in June of 2024 when my grandmother passed away from Frontotemporal Disease and Alzheimer's disease. After she passed away my mom whom I was living with at the time and I began to get into arguments which eventually led to her kicking me out. After she kicked me out I contacted my DCYF case worker and she helped me get into the Community House on Broadway. I have multiple complex medical conditions that require me to have a Jejunostomy tube. The tube is inserted into my abdomen and into my small intestine to receive all of my nutrition and medication. As well as a gastrostomy tube which is inserted into my abdomen and into my stomach. I am required to have both of these tubes because I have a paralyzed stomach and I can not digest food. I rely on the gastrostomy tube to drain everything that is in my stomach.

Due to these complex medical conditions it was difficult for me to utilize the stairs at the Community House on Broadway. I would feel dizzy from a heart condition I have so that is when they transferred me to Community House Extended Support Services.

When I was moved in I was immediately enrolled in counseling, peer support, Employment and Housing supported services. Where am I today. Well, thanks to the amazing staff at CORE and Community House, especially Latisha Filzen I am now successfully employed at Walmart as an online personal shopper. My mental and physical health is stabilized and I am successfully housed with my grandpa. If it wasn't for CORE Health and the Community House assisting me when I needed it the most, I would not be writing this story.

Again, I want to thank all of the amazing and wonderful staff at CORE Health and the Community House for being there for me when I was at my worst

-Rebecca
