Meet Ian
Hi there my name is Ian,
Hi my name is Ian. Before I came to the Community house on Broadway I was experiencing homelessness for about two years. I grew up in a dysfunctional home and left as soon as I was old enough and was homeless for a couple years. I heard about the Community House from my girlfriends family and decided to give it a chance.
It was not what I was expecting. It was like a summer camp being up in overflow. It gave off a warm atmosphere. I got into services and began seeing Mindy and it really improved my mental health.
At first I was against mental health therapy but once I opened up it really helped a lot. I was assigned to a case manager Jane and she made sure I was good to go and everything was in order. I really needed the structure. I learned how to budget my money and be responsible. Then I started meeting with housing and employment. Nikkea was my employment specialist and she helped me prepare for employment and obtain a job at Lifeworks. I began saving money and worked closely with Sam to find stable housing.
I am now stably housed and successful at my job and doing great. I am grateful for all the help from the people at the Community House and ready to start my journey in life.
-Ian
